กระทรวงสาธารณสุขเปรู ประกาศแจกจ่ายยาคุมกำเนิดให้ผู้ที่ต้องการใช้ โดยไม่คิดเงิน หลังได้รับการยืนยันจากองค์การอนามัยโลกแล้วว่า ยานี้เพียงแค่ป้องกันไม่ให้สเปิร์มเข้าไปผสมกับไข่ในรังไข่ ไม่ใช่ยาที่ส่งเสริมการทำแท้ง ตามเหตุผลที่ศาลสูงเปรูเคยตัดสินห้ามแจกยา
